Who are we?

Mindful Mentoring is the collaborative vision of Dana Gordon and Rebecca Hayes.

Dana Gordon, Educational Therapist

Dana Gordon has worked extensively with diverse student populations. She has experience serving students with learning disabilities and attention issues. She also teaches Family Literacy and ESL courses through San Diego Community College. Dana is committed to helping students gain the skills and confidence necessary for success both in school and life.

rebecca Rebecca Hayes, Educational Consultant

Rebecca Hayes has comprehensive training and experience in working with children with special needs. She has recently completed her Character Education Specialist Certificate at the University of San Diego. She has taught ESL and has served as a reading specialist, behavior technician, and a child advocate. She has actively served in both private and public realms within the San Diego community for over ten years. Rebecca is dedicated to making a difference, one child at a time.

jessie Jessie Macaulay, Academic Mentor

Jessie Macaulay received her BA from UC Berkeley in Psychology and Philosophy, and recently attained her Master�s in Clinical Psychology from Alliant University. She has worked with emotionally disturbed adolescents, and served as a peer counselor in college. Jessie is also the eldest of eight siblings in her own family, lending her a unique perspective into youth at every stage of growth and development. She believes in the power of positive thinking and teaching by example.
jean-christophe Jean-Christophe Haskell, Academic Mentor

Jean-Christophe Haskell is delighted to be part of the Mindful Mentoring team as the Sunset Study Mentor. He attended University of San Diego where he studied Theatre and Literature. Prior to coming to Mindful Mentoring, Jean worked for three years as a resource counselor and job coach for disabled adults throughout North County San Diego. Outside of the office, he enjoys teaching yoga and surfing to eager students of all ages. Jean looks forward to nurturing a fun space of clarity and progress with all of his students!
jessica Jessica Love, Academic Mentor

Jessica Love graduated California State University, San Marcos with a BA in Visual Arts and Technology and is currently pursuing a Single Subject Teaching Credential for Mathematics. As an innate teacher and life-long learner, Jessica has found her passion in teaching and is always seeking innovative methods to integrate visual arts in traditional learning. She has spent years volunteering her time in classrooms and privately assisting students with their academic material. Jessica hopes to pass on her passion for learning as an educator. Jessica always feels that you should do what you LOVE and love what you do!
joey Joey Shannon, Academic Mentor

Joey Shannon earned his BS in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Physics from the University of Arizona. He has an extensive work experience connecting with young people in an array of settings including Gridley Middle School in Tucson, Arizona, Camp Lincoln in northern Minnesota, and even supporting early child-care in Wellington, New Zealand. He strives to find ways to put math and science concepts in a context that can truly tap into a student�s interest. With every student, Joey genuinely hopes to instill a passion for learning as a means to itself.
